Serve the World

The Green Team / Climate Action FUUB

The Green Team, established by congregational vote at the 2019 Annual Meeting, encourages congregants to actively engage in building a just, livable society and promotes sustainability throughout our building and congregational practices. Our work is grounded in the UU 7th Principle: “Respect for the Interconnected Web of which we are a part.”

Our Team organizes congregational participation in climate actions including demonstrations and letter writing, creates events to raise awareness of environmental causes and concerns, and works with the Facilities Committee to evaluate and improve our campus’s energy efficiency.

We invite members and friends to join Climate Action FUUB forum to share ideas and actions with the greater First U community.

Share The Plate

Our second Unitarian Universalist principle call for us to work for justice, equity and compassion in human relations. With this principle as our goal, we donate 50% of our monthly Sunday non-pledge offertory to non-profit organizations that work for justice in our local community and throughout the world. Through the Share the Plate program we give away approximately $1,200 every month.

Members and friends of First Unitarian are invited to nominate organizations that complement our mission. Nominations will be reviewed by our Share the Plate committee and, if selected, will be sent to the Board of Trustees for approval.  Share the plate recipients must have 501(c)3 status.
