n\n\nFAQs\nHow do I get there?\nWe encourage using public transportation.
We are conveniently located near the Borough Hall\, Court Street\, and Cla
rk Street subway stations\, accessible via the 2/3\, 4/5\, R\, and W lines
.\nWhere do I park? \nParking is very limited in Brooklyn Heights. Street
parking is free\, but be prepared to spend extra time looking for an open
spot. Paid parking garages can be found on Clinton St\, near Pierrepont S
t\, as well as closer to Cadman Plaza and the courthouses.\nI am in a whee
lchair or use a mobility aid. Can I access your building? \nYes! However\
, our historic building has some accessibility limitations. We have a chai
r lift at the corner of Pierrepont St and Monroe Pl to assist you directly
into the Sanctuary\, and our Ushers or Sexton will be ready to greet you
starting half an hour before services start. It is recommended (but not re
quired) to contact us in advance - at info@firstubrooklyn.org - if you pla
n to use the lift so we can be prepared to assist you. \n\nRestrooms (inc
luding an accessible restroom) and the fellowship hour following services
are located downstairs\; we have a second chair lift inside the adjacent M
cKinney Chapel to assist guests to those spaces. However\, please note thi
s does require exiting the building and taking the chair lift down the sta
irs to re-enter the building through the Chapel.\nI wear a hearing aid. Wi
ll I be able to clearly listen to the services?\nYes! All amplified sound
in the Sanctuary and Chapel are connected to an audio induction loop syste
m.\nWhat do I wear?\nWhatever you like! If you are sensitive to scents\, i
ncluding perfumes and laundry soaps\, we have a dedicated scent-free secti
on of pews on the far left side of the Sanctuary.\nCan I bring my dog?\nSe
rvice animals are welcome. They should generally be harnessed\, leashed\,
or tethered - unless the equipment interferes with the animal's work or th
e handler's disability prevents its use. In those circumstances\, the hand
ler must maintain control through voice commands\, signals\, or other effe
ctive means. For preservation of First U’s historic property and the saf
ety of all\, pets and emotional support animals that do not qualify as ser
vice animals are not permitted inside the building.\nCan I eat or drink du
ring services?\nNo food or drink is permitted in the Sanctuary\, except fo
r water in closed containers. Food and drink are permitted in our other ro
oms - the Undercroft (where the fellowship hour is held after services)\,
McKinney Chapel\, Frances White Room\, Servetus Library\, Teen Room\, East
man Room\, and Kitchen. Trash\, Recycling\, and Compost bins are provided
 in those spaces.
